This 12-song LP corrals all our favourites from the label that we haven't previously issued. The album features a mix of early-'80s-style live rhythms laid at Channel One and some great late-'80s digital-style classics. Lionel Barrett was the original, and perhaps the core, artist of the Chopper stable and is featured heavily here. A few of his tracks, as well as a couple of others here, are now issued on vinyl for the first time. The remaining tracks are retrieved from long out-of-print albums and singles.
The jacket features a survey of all of Chopper's excellent graphic design. All told, this LP is a great overview of a prolific, Jamaica-to-NYC-connected label from dancehall's best era.
