Flashing back to six months earlier, we learn the woman is Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne), a law-school graduate who has just landed her dream job working for cunning high-stakes lawyer Patty Hewes (Close), who is launching a pitched battle to destroy scandal-ridden corporate titan Arthur Frobisher (Ted Danson).
