We wanted to get the selection right and we think we did by featuring five of the great man’s classic early recordings starting way back in the 1940s! As you will see from the writing credits Ernest Tubb was one of the earliest country singer songwriters who wrote many of his own songs.\u003cbr\u003eThis was partly due to the detrimental effect a tonsillectomy had had on his vocal chords. With the help of the widow of his great hero and inspiration Jimmie Rodgers, Ernest had signed to RCA records as a country singer, however with a weakened voice he decided to leave RCA and sign up to Decca records primarily as a songwriter where in 1941 he wrote his most famous song, the million selling ‘Walking The Floor Over You’ which was also to see the emergence of the honky tonk style of country music.
