STUNNING COLLECTION OF RARE JIMMY PAGE SESSIONS
Born in January 1946, Jimmy Page’s best-known role has been as the god-like guitar hero from Led Zeppelin between 1968 and 1980. But Page’s musical career both before and, more significantly, after Zep has been intriguing, and this 3-CD Set now celebrates all eras of James Patrick Page’s trajectory by bringing together live and studio broadcast recordings, as a solo-artist, as part of the Page & Plant Duo, and as main-man in Led Zeppelin.
Kicking off,
DISC ONE features Zeppelin’s quite majestic show from the Albert Hall in 1970, often referred to as ‘Jimmy’s Birthday Party’, taking place, as it did, on the musician’s 24th birthday.
DISC TWO finds Jimmy performing with his old Zeppelin mucker Bob Plant at the Great Woods Center for the Performing Arts in
Mansfield, MA in 1998, where the pair played a classic Page & Plant show.
DISC THREE concludes this collection with a fine selection of rarities from Page, including the great man’s demos for his soundtrack to the Death Wish II movie produced in 1981, Jim’s first post Led Zep project. Following this are a couple of tracks Jimmy recorded
with his old mate Roy Harper for the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1984 – which also includes a quite fascinating outdoor interview with
both participants. Then it’s more Jimmy and Roy, performing together in Battersea Park, London that same year, playing a set recorded for live FM Broadcast.
