How do I know if I need a roof install?
Download the Starlink app to assess the field of view in your desired install location before installing. If there are obstructions in your area, many customers find that a permanent mount in an elevated location, like a roof, pole, or wall, provides the best installation and service. Roof mounts are available for purchase on the Starlink Shop once a Starlink account is created.
Can I use Starlink Standard Kit with the roam/mobile service plan?
Yes, the Standard Starlink is designed for portable use at any destination where Starlink has active coverage. Take your Starlink with you. With an easy setup and break down, Starlink delivers high-speed, low-latency internet access within minutes, and packs up quickly when it's time to move to your next destination. The Starlink Standard Kit is not designed for use while in-motion.
Can you connect Starlink to a 3rd party router or mesh system?
Yes, you are welcome to connect your own equipment to Starlink. However, we cannot guarantee Starlink performance or compatibility with 3rd party routers or mesh systems. Additionally, the Starlink app may not work as expected when using 3rd party routers.
What IP Address does Starlink provide?
Starlink provides two IP policies, "default" and "public". The default IP configuration is Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT) using private address space assigned to Starlink clients with DHCP from the 10.64.0.0/10 network. Network Address Translation (NAT) translates between Starlink private and public IPs.
