Spark Sport will soon launch on 2019 LG Smart TVs. However, despite extensive collaboration between Spark Sport app development and the device manufacturer, the Spark Sport app experiences significant issues playing on 2017 and 2018 LG TVs, so the app will not be made available on these devices before the Rugby World Cup.

People with older LG Smart TVs can still watch Spark Sport on their existing TV, by using a streaming device such as an Apple TV, a Google Chromecast or a Freeview Smart VU. This is the same situation as pre-2017 models of Samsung TVs, Sony TVs and Panasonic TVs and any model of smart TV that are not one of the four brands that Spark Sport supports.

If you’ve purchased an eligible 2017 or 2018 LG TV from JB Hi-Fi between 20th December 2018 and 30th August 2019, and have a Spark Sport Subscription or Tournament Pass purchased at any stage, you will be eligible for a $100 discount towards a streaming device from JB Hi-Fi.

FAQ

Can I watch Spark Sport on my 2019 LG TV?

The Spark Sport App will be made available for 2019 LG TVs before the Rugby World Cup.

Can I watch Spark Sport on my 2017-2018 LG TV? You won’t be able to watch Spark Sport directly on your 2017-2018 LG TV, but you will be able to by using a streaming device such as Apple TV, Google Chromecast or a Freeview Smart VU.

I’ve bought a 2017 or 2018 LG TV, before Spark Sport announced that Spark Sport would support them. Am I eligible for a supplementary device or credit? Spark first announced that they would support 2017+ LG TVs on 20 December 2018. If you purchased your 2017 or 2018 LG TV in store before this date then unfortunately you are not eligible for a supplementary device or credit as support for the product was not expressed by Spark Sport before then. Refer to the list above of compatible devices to see if you have another device you can use. You also have the option of a refund for your Tournament Pass if you would like. Get in touch with the Spark team via their live chat to do this.

What is proof of purchase?
-Proof of purchase for your eligible TV will be the receipt you received upon purchasing the product or order confirmation email from an online purchase. If you do not have your receipt, contact the store that the purchase was made from with the date and value of the purchase, along with the last 4 digits of your card number, and they will be able to produce a duplicate receipt for you.
-Proof of purchase for the Spark Sport monthly subscription or Tournament Pass can be a bank statement showing payment, email confirmation of purchase or voucher code issued by a Spark Sport partner.

How can I find out the model number of my LG TV and what year it is? Check the back of the TV unit for a sticker or on the TV click on the 'Home' button > select 'Settings' (or 'Setup') > select 'Support Menu' > highlight 'Product/Service Info' > press 'OK' button

Why do you support 2019 LG TVs, but not 2017 and 2018? Despite extensive collaboration between Spark Sport app development and the device manufacturer, the Spark Sport app experiences significant issues playing on 2017 and 2018 LG TVs, so the app will not be available on these devices in the foreseeable future.
