FAQ HELP: JB Hi-Fi Gift Cards
What's the deal with the new gift cards?
JB Hi-Fi gift cards are perfect for a wide range of gift scenarios. They are easy to buy, completely secure and a snap to redeem. And now the same gift card can be used in-store at JB HiFi as well as online. Super convenient! The recipient can receive either a physical gift card or an emailed digital version. The gift card will be mailed via registered post and will be required if purchasing in-store. The digital version can be used at our JB Hi-Fi Online website or in-store immediately upon receipt.
What happened to the old JB Hi-Fi Online vouchers?
These have been replaced by the new gift cards which can be used online AND in-store. Currently we are continuing to accept the old online vouchers until they expire. If we choose to discontinue them in future, we will advise all valid voucher holders and replace them with new gift cards.
What happened to the old JB Hi-Fi store cards?
These are no longer issued but if you have one that's still within its expiry period, it can be redeemed in-store at JB Hi-Fi. These are not redeemable online for website purchases.
Buying a gift card: What are the common scenarios?
a) "I’d like to buy the JB Hi-Fi gift card as a gift and get JB to post the card to the recipient"
Fill in the recipient’s name and email details in the form. When you take your order through the checkout, you will need to enter the recipient’s shipping address. The recipient will receive an email within one business day that includes their card number and PIN, and they can start shopping immediately on our website. They will receive the gift card by registered post within 2-5 business days.
You can also delay the sending of the email and gift card for a specific date (e.g. birthdays, Christmas) by selecting a specific “Deliver On” date below. The email will be received on this date and the gift card will follow soon after.
b) "I'd like to buy the JB Hi-Fi gift card as a gift but I’d like to give the card to the recipient myself later"
Fill in the recipient’s name and your email address in the recipient’s email field. When you take your order through the checkout, you will need to enter your shipping address. You will receive the email within one business day and the gift card 1-5 business day later via registered post. Included with the gift card is a letter to the recipient which displays your personal message.
c) "The gift card is for my use only"
Fill in your name and email details in the form. At the checkout stage of your order, you will need to enter your own shipping address.
What dollar values can I purchase?
You can nominate your own value by typing it in OR select a popular value from the dropdown menu. Minimum is $10.00
Can I include a personal message to the recipient?
Yes! Simply enter your personal text in the field indicated (optional). This will appear in the recipient’s email.
What happens after I purchase the gift card?
After you have placed your order, an email will be sent to the recipient by following business day (unless requested otherwise). This has all the information they need to begin purchasing at our website immediately. Simply follow the instructions in the email. A physical gift card will be mailed within two business days for use in JB Hi-Fi stores.
I haven't received my gift card yet. Why is there a delay?
Some gift card emails are received instantly but others can be delayed slightly by our payment authentication process. This process occurs to protect cardholders and will be resolved by next business day. If you haven't received the email by then, please contact our support staff.
Please allow up to 5 business days for physical Gift Cards to arrive in the mail. If the physical Gift Card has not been received after this timeframe, please contact us for further assistance.
Can I order other items at the same time as ordering a gift card?
Yes. Simply add the Gift Card to your cart and continue to shop.
Can I purchase multiple gift cards at once with different delivery addresses?
Yes. Once you have added the first Gift Card to your cart you will be given to the option to ‘Add Another’, you can also purchase more Gift Cards once you are at the checkout. If you need to send the Gift Cards to different addresses you can do that too, either by Post or Email.
How do I redeem my gift card in-store or online?
a) At JB Hi-Fi Online: simply place your items in your cart and take them through checkout. At the payment screen, select “Gift Card” from the dropdown menu. If your gift card balance does not exceed the price of your purchase, you can pay the difference with another gift card, Visa/Mastercard or PayPal.
b) In-store at JB Hi-Fi: you must have your gift card with you to purchase at the cashier. JB Hi-Fi staff will swipe your card. If your gift card balance does not exceed the price of your purchase, you can pay the difference with a selected credit card or cash. Note: You CANNOT use your gift card email to purchase in-store. The actual gift card MUST be presented.
Can I use multiple gift cards for my online purchase?
You can use up to five gift cards for any one purchase at JB Hi-Fi Online.
How do I check the balance of my gift card?
You can check your remaining balance here at any time. You will need your card number and PIN.
Can I top up the balance of my gift card?
No. Gift cards are sold on a one-use only basis. A new gift card will be needed for further purchases.
Do I need to keep my gift card after placing a JB Hi-Fi Online order?
Yes! Please ensure you keep the gift card until your order is received by the recipient. If your order is cancelled, for example due to product deletion, the funds will be automatically credited back onto your gift card. If you use your card balance for a store purchase, please advise the sales assistant that you will need the card back for online purchasing.
Can I use my gift card at an Australian JB Hi-Fi store?
No, they are only accepted in New Zealand JB HiFi stores. But you can use it on our website for CD/DVD/game items.
